You Brush + Floss – But Do You Lid Wash?

Close up Look of Eyelash | Clear Eyes + Aesthetics in Cincinnati, OH

Lid hygiene is a great part of eye health.  In our opinion, everyone should have their hands on a good eye wash.  It helps with dry eye, makeup removal, and allergies, especially.  You brush and floss twice a day, but how often do you clean your lids and lashes?

One of our favorite products is called We Love Eyes.  It is a tea tree oil-based cleaning duo.  The way we have found it works the best is to a.) wash your hands, b.) place a drop or two of oil on your index fingers, and c.) rub in circular motions on your closed lashes. This helps dissolve buildup.  Leave the oil on! Next step: do the same thing with the foam.  After that, rinse both the oil and foam.

Morning and night of this routine would make us happy, docs!  But why this product? For starters, it’s vegan, cruelty-free, and made by an amazing optometrist on the west coast.  Additionally, it has very clean ingredients that make for happy, healthy lashes.  We’ve even had more than a few patients report their lashes start growing in thicker and longer after starting this! There are no added chemicals or preservatives, so it is non-toxic to the cornea.  Lastly, it has tea tree oil.  Tea tree oil is the only thing that kills a pesky skin bug called Demodex.

Demodex lives in your lashes (and skin) and excretes an exotoxin that is inflammatory to the surface of the eye.  Kill that, help the eye, and win-win!
